Sakiko Nomura BLACK DARKNESS
2008.11.4 - 11.22
Dubbed Kuroyami (trans: Black Darkness) by mentor Nobuyoshi Araki, Sakiko Nomura presents us with a series of black monochrome photographs, commemorating the release of her new book by the same title. Opposed to conventional photography methods, her approach to darkness leaving expanses of black space in her photographs – a tiger shining a single eye in the darkness, an expectant mother posing nude, revealing her veins – portrays everyday scenery through a filter of Nomura’s innermost eye.
